Entries for the 2010/2011 NGC annual Film Essay Competition earlier opened on July 1, 2010 to members of the public has finally closed. The final date for submission of entries was August 31, 2010.
Announcing the closure in a release last week, Brian Etuk, Head Public Affairs of the NFC said, a total of 40 entries were received for the 2010/2011 edition. A breakdown showed that participants cut across the academia, students of higher institutions and civil and public workers.
The topic for the edition (the fifth in the Essay Series) was, “Film: A Tool for Socio-Cultural Integration and Tourism Promotion.”
The search for practical recommendations on how the vast cultural and heterogeneous Nigerian nation can be best positioned sustainably on the global map as indeed a nation of “Good People, Great Nation”, the statement added, is the core objective of the 2010/2011 edition of the Essay Competition.
The essence of the Essay Competition is to elicit intellectual input/discourse from members of the public yearly, which enables the Film Corporation undertake the aggregation of views and data on germane issues critical to the development of the film sector of the nation’s economy.
Winners in the order of first, second and third are expected to emerge and announced before the end of the year, while certificate of participation and cash prizes of N100,000, N75,000 and N50,000 will be presented to winners during the 2011 edition of NFC’s Annual Film Lecture.
