When news went round that top Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele a.k.a Jennifer was getting married to Almaroof some months ago, not many knew that the man she was getting married to was not Alhaji Moruf Adedayo Afolayan a.k.a Almaroof, who is a top Yoruba movies marketer. Many were quick to believe that Funke had found love in the young and successful Idumota marketer. It however, came as a shock to millions of Nollywood lovers, when the real identity of Funke’s heartthrob, Alhaji Almaroof Kehinde Oloyede was finally revealed and it turned out not to be who many had thought he was. Nigeriafilms.com caught up with Adedayo Afolayan at an awards event recently and he was asked about his reaction, when people initially thought he was the Almaroof that was getting married to Funke Akindele. He said, “my wife thought I dumped her to marry Funke. I had to leave home for days until the wedding story died down. It was later my wife realized that I wasn’t the same Almaroof was getting married to Funke Akindele. It was really a bad experience for me.”

Julianamaria | 9/25/2012 3:05:00 AMtssk,In my view feminism and women's loiaretbin in Oz shared a lot with the counter-culture in terms of the time they took to get going in Australia. So far as I can work out the counter-culture got going in the UK, Europe and the Us about 1966, but it didn't really start manifesting itself here until about 1969, and then only in a very small way until the early 1970s. Similarly, until the moratoriums my view is that the anti-war movement was mostly taking place on uni campuses. We forget how radical unis were in those days. The two exceptions to this slow take-up were the sexualrevolution, which you can date precisely from the advent of the pill in 1963, though from memory a lot of women were a little slow to take it up here on what can loosely be termed moral grounds. After all, we were just coming out of the repressive 50s. It is in this area that I think Cleo and magazines like Nation Review made a huge difference, both to men and women, but that has to be distinguished I would argue from womens' loiaretbin and feminism, which were/are essentially political/ (the personal is political.)The other area that was a major exception was in the field of literature. The generation of 68, (and I'm talking poetry here, with which I am most familiar) were greatly influenced by the new American poetry and the swinging 60s British poetry and were well on the way before Whitlam was elected.
