Jackie Appiah
"Zambezia" is a new South African 3D animation feature film featuring a voice cast of high-profile actors, including Samuel L. Jackson and Abigail Breslin.*Egor Efiok's *Mystery Beads* is not the first African 3D Movie as reported in The Guardian on Saturday of August 18 and other Nigerian newspapers.
Mystery Beads* has a fantastic cast of Ghanaian screen diva Jackie Appiah, Nigerian Hollywood actor Emeka Amene (NCSI, Angel) and other stars and it may be the first Nigerian movie in 3D, but definitely not the first in Africa, because even Wayne Thornley's *Zambezia*, the first South African 3D animation movie puts South Africa ahead of Nigeria in 3D movies and Sony Pictures has already picked *Adventures in Zambezia* for distribution rights in English-speaking territories. Sony will release the film, produced by Triggerfish Animation Studios, in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia amongst others.
Three-dimensional viewing in cinemas has been available in South Africa since 2007, when the first 3D movies were shown at two theatres, in KwaZulu-Natal and Johannesburg, and now the 3D home entertainment revolution has reached the local market.
International electronics producer Samsung was the first in the African market to launch a 3D plasma TV about two years ago.
