These constraints include a constraint on knowingly lying in public about the character or conduct of other people. But surely thats not the case. Speech is constrained by the individual doing the talking. The constraints you refer to only constrain in as far as they exert duress on people not to speak freely. That decision still comes back to an individual and whether or not they choose to speak. Freedom of speceh is what enables people to break the law. By speaking freely in a situation where they are not sposed to. People can also choose to mute themselves if they decide not to speak because the consequences of that speceh are more than they could handle.Milne (and Bolt)haven't lost their freedom of speceh, it hasn't been crushed by anyone. No one stopped them saying/writing what they did. Someone chose not to publish some things they wrote after someone else complained, but thats not exactly crushing free speceh . Those individuals could have still published their views under their own steam if they felt that strongly about it.If you were to say there is no such thing thing as legal protection for completely unfettered, no holds barred speceh I'd completely agree. I don't agree there is no such thing as free speceh. Becuase as long as we can speak we can speak freely. Surely you get what I'm saying here, don't you? Reply this thread
