Tameka Raymond’s 11-year-old son Kyle Glover has taken an unfortunate turn for the worse after he was involved in a jet skiing accident Friday afternoon. After being air lifted from Lake Lanier to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston, Kyle was said to be in critical condition, but as of yesterday afternoon the young boy has reportedly been declared brain dead.
According to TMZ’s sources, Kyle has not experienced any brain activity since he was admitted to the hospital three days ago. There has reportedly been no decision yet as to whether or not to take him off life support and Radar Online claims to have spoken with Tameka about her son’s condition, to which she simply responded:
“He’s Bad.”
Both Kyle and a 15-year-old girl were injured in Friday’s accident when a man who appears to have been apart of their group at the lake struck them with his personal watercraft while they were inner-tubing, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Kyle was unresponsive when he was pulled out of the water but the girl was treated for minor injuries, including a cut to the head and a broken arm.
Though alcohol is not thought to have played a part in the incident, Robin Hill, a representative for the Department of Natural Resources in Atlanta said the department’s Critical Incident Response Team will recreate the accident with computer programs to help determine what happened, including how fast the boats were going at the time of the accident. Once the department completes its investigation, they will send their recommendation over to the district attorney who would then decide whether or not to file charges against the driver.
So far, neither the boy’s father,Ryan Glover, nor his former step-father, Usher, have commented on the situation although Usher is said to have chartered a plane for Tameka to be by her son’s side following the accident. A slew of celebrities have sent their well wishes to the family, including Lala Anthony, Russell Simmons, and Monica. We definitely want to extend ours as well at this difficult time.

BJCHI | 7/9/2012 3:03:20 PMBeing brain dead means that he is dead and only machines keep him alive. So unfortunately, he is gone. I hope the family can pull together and get through this. It is a situation that I hope no parent has to go through. My thoughts are definitely with them.

"O" | 7/9/2012 3:58:02 PMTo some people, turning off life support can be a kindness! But others, including me, just hope they are not quick at deciding to switch that machine off... No, I don't define active euthanasia as murder, and yes, it's heartbreaking to watch a loved one who is in a persistent vegetative state in ICU (intensive care unit) with tubes everywhere as they waste away and wait for death! But, if you believe in miracle, this is where God comes in because the impossible is what He does best...I have seen on many occasion of accident victims making great progress after being written off (having no chance of cognitive functions above a vegetative state) by authoritative medical opinions. So Oh God, we pray that you restore this young man...

I'm a health care professional, and I see stuff like this everyday and it just makes me wonder. I knw it is hard to mk such decisions if it is ur family member, but i see wat happens in d long run. I knw a baby who had an anoxic brain injury at 3, but his parents still kept him alive until he finally passed at the age of 11.I knw they have their reasons, but i don't think their was any quality of life left for that child. Even though we grieve, we shud try to look at d big picture n try to reverse d roles ourselves.

I agree with you there! But, isn't it correct to say that when there is 'brain death', it's different from clinical(can be resuscitated) or legal(permanent)death? And, being brain dead means that his or her heart still beat due to some activity in the brain stem, but the higher functions of brain activity in the cerebrum and cerebellum have stopped. And yes, scientifically, there is no hope of quality of life for the victim. But maybe, just maybe...See, God's sense of purpose is deeper than ours, and the fact that this young man is still alive today means that God desires his presence here on earth! So, I'm hoping for a miracle, that is, those acts that only God can perform! Those acts that usually supersede natural laws! That's what I'm on about!
