It is well what greed can cause, i just felt for that old woman i was crying throughout her interview, i pray she will be alive to see her son in 6yrs time. I pray God send a benefactor to Mrs Dike cos it is not easy on her and her kids at all
Sad
Ugo | 5/20/2012 3:16:35 AM |
I wept as those 3 women were interviewed. They are not alone. Many other families are going thro the same emotional torture.

Some of these prisoners are innocent, but many are not.
The problem we Nigerians hv is materialism, greed and impatience.
We all want to make it big in a short period of time.

May God help us.
Greed!!

So nigerians now are jailed in china? Where in part of this world that nigerians aren't jailed?!? All these stems from greed and wanting to show off, bragging, boastful...this is what it leads to! Wanting the high life the quick way ends in situations like this. It's a shame that Nigeria is just not helping it's citizens to better their lives which makes them do rawbish abroad out of greed! Shame sha.

My dear sister, do u know people were asking me if I am mad to build a bunglow recently.
They said they were disappionted in me, bcos the trending thing now in duplex, storey buildings, mansion and whatever.

How can u build just a mere bungalow after living abroad for sometime now, they asked.

No matter how tastefully furnished and designed, a bungalow is a bungalow.

So u see, it is the Nigerians at home that drive the ones abroad to commit crime.

Many people do these things just to impress the i***ts at home. Simple.

You can imagine, someone who is a tenant blaming me for wasting my plot of land to build just a bungalow.
I understand building bungalow these days is waste of ones plot of land.
Ugo
Aham | 5/20/2012 6:34:53 AM |
Ugo, u are perfectly correct. I had same expirience.
In igboland, the graze for mansions and expensive cars is beyond describtion.
if u live abroad and yet to build after 5 yrs people at home start insulting u.
Ugo
Lalaland | 5/20/2012 8:10:54 AM |
You are 100% correct! There's this igbo family we grew up with as our neighbours. Honestly they were so very poor. The father was doing kabukabu that's how poor they are and they were eight of them. You know that nigerians like just borning even though they can't afford to maintain the kids but they will be borning like rats. Anyways long story short, their first son managed travel to Germany and before you can say jack Robinson he started sending mercedes Benz cars home! You should see how the family were bragging and showing off! Then all of a sudden the cars stopped coming, it was then we heard that sheit has hit the fan! This man had been stealing peoples cars doing getaway gangster style with some gangs, like those Hollywood films people watch, he was in an accident while on one of his thieving spree that the accident was so ghastly he was in a coma for two months! anyways when he came out of his coma, the greedy fhucker was charged and jailed for LIFE!! He's still in prison the last time we heard and his family are even worst in poverty sef! They pushed him to go thieving to give them a greedy fickle "better life" for Nigeria but now their situation is even worst sef. We don't even know what's happened to the thief man sef!!

You did well by building what you can afford. My grand mother will say cut your coat according to your size! At the end of the day you have peace of mind and know that you did not take someones misfortune to make your own fortune. You done well.

Did you hear him asking us if Nigeria is prepared to recieve the prisoners back ?
If is it for them to increase their allocations Nigeria will be prepared, but to save lives his own Nigeria can never be prepared.
It does not concern them until it touches them, but he should remember if he does not do it right today it will surely come back to them.

God has nothing to do with criminalities like FRAUD DRUGs MURDERS etc.The root is what is the problem and the root is the country herself(Nigreia) CORUPTION is taken as part of our culture and justice seen as uncessary. The country CHINA see the Law in place as part of their culture and hold Justice in high esteem and as such their own people dont mess with the law as they know that justice CANNOT be dodged so if their own chinese are not spared and dealt with accordingly so who are the foreigners to get away?Only 2 Chinese in Nigeria prison so compare that with 265 nigerians in China Prison? So exchangew wont work.Nigeria should wake up and maintain the laws accordigly like China then there will be less Crimilities. In Nigeria the law is meant for the poor.

and pple are using these corruption as an excuss to commit crimes...forgeting that when it is outside 9ja they are on their own...there shldn't be anyjustification for commiting crime especially drug traffiking...while many are settled in 9ja with the suffering n managing their lives other want to go the fast lane and the consequence is this...it beats me to hear about these ones that had money and were in business already but out of greed they wanted to double or triple d money by carrying drugs...so what can we say to them IT SERVES THEM RIGHT

Infact i am one person that never gave up on Nigeria up till date. I am so very impressed that i could experience life changing and humanic debates concerning nigerians held in prisons abroad.

First i have to commend the reporter Mr Bademosi for a job well done and for a humanic initiative like that. Talking specifically about prisoners in China. It is a very perculiar issue that i personally think it is high time that people start to associate human worth with our country Nigeria when ever they come in contact with a nigeria and not feel like they could do any thing they like with a nigerian because a child that is not been cared for will definitely be misused. This is the time for Nigeria to stand for his people good or bad because the people are the country meaning the way or the worth you attached to your people displays its reflection in the way your people will be seen. I am happy and thankful to God for this pleasant debate. God bless Nigeria.

Peace and out.

victim of circumstances
movementman | 5/20/2012 11:23:56 PM
Poverty in nigeria is the root of the problem that forced 80% nigerian in diasporal into prinson, especially most prisoner in china now , i agree 20% poeple poeple can be attarched to greed and urge to live life on fast lane , i live in china and i know 80%in prinson there are victim of circumstances , nigerians travel down here ingnorantly , some were sent here mostly by poeple that arrange visas in nigeria because of the money they colect from u , they will sweet talked them that when they got to china they will get a good job and start living good life , they have fnisher of the job in china , that they will call on chinese line that will assure you of good job moment you get to china ,(number that will never gone through when u got to china ), and on your arrival in china u will discover that it wasnt so , hence to survive becomes difficult , cos no job , no one to accomodate u , even in winter , and chinese governemnt will only give you one month after that no visa , hence the journey to survived in china will be analysed by the poeple u met in china , u wil first to be told tht forget anyone ca help u in china , u have to help yourself , they will tell you that selling drug , do 4*9, is the in thing is either u choose one illegal way to survive , u ve come to the land where u expected to see a greener pasture , but its not so here , and u left nigeria where poerverty is eating you up , and a lot of poeple borrowed money to make dat trip believing they will get job in their new foreign land to pay back the debt , hence u can not go back home with empty hand or havin the money u borrowed at hand , u dont have a choice than to stay and see how u can survive , they lie to some that it is easy to cross over to japan and other wetsern world from china ,just to attatrct them to pay for the visa , getting there it is not so , hence they got stranded there , its a place no way to survive except illegal means , and you cant go back home because u know the society u left behind , some graduated without job for years and were frustrated to travel to china, getting to china joblessness continue , they say if u cant beat them then u join that is china for u , and that is why i said 80%in prinson are just victim of circumstances , had it been u have a good country and you get to a country where there is nothing legal to do , i am very sure 80% in china prinson today will not be there cos they would have gone back the second day arrived in china, cos they will have a country of thei own to fall back on , south africa ambassador to china once said that nothing a south african can be doing in china , when it was written that a southafrican has been arrested for overstay visa , and true talk you cant see any southafrican looking for a greener pasture in china , china case is different to other western world cos no job there , i am using this medium to reach out top any nigerian aspiring to go to china or seeing china as a promise land to desist from such idea, no job for you in china , or else such person end up in jail like others....

NICE WORK
Joseph Monehin | 5/21/2012 7:54:11 AM
I actually watched the documentary on Channel TV and I must say that it was well-produced and deserving of awards. I have never seen a Nigerian documentary so well-packaged.
I believe the Nigerian Government should engage the services of good lawyers for these folks so that those who do not have established cases against them can have a chance of being released. if it is true that many of them were rounded up indisciminately in China, then it is gross human rights abuse and the Nigerian Government should fight for them.
But as for those who are proven guilty, let them do their time.
